“ADVANCED CYBERSECURITY AND GLOBAL CYBERSECURITY STRATEGY” COURSE WEEK 4: TUTORIAL #5

It’s Monday and that means it’s tutorial time with Prof. Giampaolo Bella in the “Advanced Cybersecurity and Global Cybersecurity Strategy” course within the Advanced Master in Privacy, Cybersecurity, Data Management and Leadership LLM at the European Centre on Privacy and Cybersecurity (ECPC)!

In today’s tutorial, students will be presented with a scenario in which an institution hires them as an IoT security expert to collaborate with the CTO and the sysadmins who configure the employees’ computing facilities.

The expert is then called in to give a presentation aimed at briefing employees about the general misconceptions and threats related to IoT devices. Following this presentation, the expert must teach the institution’s employees about the specific threats that may arise from the use of essential institutional devices such as network printers and VoIP phones.

Finally, the expert should  illustrate the trade-off between updating or upgrading the devices on one hand, and the construction of in-house solutions aimed at building secure channels, on the other. What is best choice in relation to the core business of the institution?

Students will present their thoughts on the above in group presentations. Looking forward to it!
