Very happy to have been appointed as a member of the European Commission’s Expert Group on B2B data sharing and cloud computing contracts, co-managed by the Directorate-General for Communications, Networks, Content and Technology and the Directorate-General for Justice and Consumers.
With this appointment, I will put my knowledge of cloud computing to the best use I can think of — helping the Commission develop model contractual clauses for B2B data sharing and standard contractual clauses for cloud computing contracts.
The Expert Group will contribute to improve the state of cloud contracts, something which is very much needed. More often than not, contractual frameworks are very difficult to analyze, largely because the provisions regulating the relationship between the parties are scattered across diverse documents. Over the course of my career, in fact, I have witnessed a significant lack of consistency in cloud contracts in an ecosystem where each cloud provider has its own style, wording, and ‘unfriendly’ contractual framework. I look forward to working with the other members of the B2B data sharing and cloud computing contracts Expert Group to solve these and other problems in the area of cloud computing contracts!
